Which King?

“If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”

Words from our gospel today, according to Mark.

We are children of God.

He is our King.

We have but one King.

One who is faithful.

One who is strong.

One who provides.

One who protects.

However, if a Kingdom is divided, it will have multiple kings vying for power.

There are, indeed other kings wrestling for power in our lives.

And none of us are immune to their influence – no matter how holy we try to become.

It’s one thing to say Jesus is our King.

It’s another to take an honest account.

To look in the mirror and take stock.

To consider who and what is making a claim to that highest of priorities in our lives.

On this Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, a saint of great wisdom, we pray for wisdom.

To hear the King’s voice.

To come back to his feet where we belong.

  1. So happy you are blogging on WordPress. This piece reminds me of my priorities and the need to reflect on where I’ve placed them throughout the day. The things/people that got the highest priority have became my king. Each day I’m hoping that I’m serving The King of Kings.

    1. Thank you, Sunny. It’s a constant struggle for all of us. For sure.
